Beginning in late fall, and extending into early spring, the Indiana Tech
Basketball Pep Band is in high gear on campus.
This is a select ensemble consisting of woodwinds, brass, and a rhythm section
(guitar, keyboard, bass and drum set). The ensemble performs at every men's and
women's home basketball games, with the exception of those which fall during
Thanksgiving break and semester break. The play list for the group contains
songs from the 60's, to today's hits, and covers a wide range of styles from
rock to funk to hip-hop. Membership is by recommendation. Regular required
rehearsals are held on Sunday evenings and selected Wednesday evenings.
While participants in the Indiana Tech Basketball Pep Band do not earn academic
credit, scholarships are offered for participation in the ensemble. They will
also have ringside seats for some of the finest basketball action in the
Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. The Indiana Tech Pep Band plays an
important role in creating an exciting atmosphere in the Schaefer Center, which
annually, makes it the most difficult venue in the conference for visiting
teams to handle.
In the future, the Indiana Tech basketball Pep Band will also offer travel
opportunities for its members.
