March 18, 2008
The Indiana Tech Cheerleading squad secured second runner-up
at the 2008 Canam National Competition in Myrtle Beach, SC this past weekend.
For the Warrior Cheer Team, this was their first appearance at the national
level and only the second competition in their brief history. The Warriors
beat out three other teams from around the nation and they were within three
points of a first place finish. Congratulations to the team and Head Coach
Andrew Stout and Asst. Coach Tameka Williams for a great season!
Spirit Teams support NAIA Champions of Character
February 6, 2008
The Indiana Tech Spirit Teams are not waiting for the NAIA to sanction their
sport before they take action themselves. The Cheer Team, Dance Team, Pep
Band, and Maximus (Indiana Tech's mascot) participated in their first Champions
of Character Event of their own.
A charity basketball game between Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the K105
Hoopsters was being held in the gymnasium. Andrew Stout, Director of
Spirit Teams, felt like this would be the perfect event for his teams to
support. The Pep Band provided music throughout the event. The Dance
team performed a routine during halftime which was followed by Mascot Bowling.
Finally, the Cheer Team was on hand to cheer on the Big Brothers/Big Sisters
team and throw tons of freebies out to the crowd of nearly 500 people. The
event was a huge success and the spirit teams look forward to more Champions of
Character events in the future.

In addition to the Champions of Character initiative, the Indiana Tech Cheer
Team participated in their first ever competition. The team performed at a
regional Cheer Unlimited event where they scored 240 points and earned an
invitation to attend the National Cheer Unlimited Competition in Myrtle Beach
South Carolina.
