Morningside uses late run to stifle Warriors
March 14, 2008
Thursday evening, the men's basketball team lost in the first
round of the NAIA National Division II Championship tournament to third seed
Morningside College (IA) Mustangs, 73-67. The Warriors led for most of the
game and had an one point lead at halftime (36-35). But in the second half,
after several lead changes, the game was decided at the foul line and the
Mustangs prevailed shooting 88% (14-16) and the Warriors only managed 50%
(6-12) for the half. The Mustangs had a trio of players in double figures for
scoring with senior Jack Rother leading the way with 18 pts. The Warriors
were paced by their leading scorer, senior guard Anthony Jones (Detroit, MI),
who had 21 points in his final game for Tech. The loss snapped a ten game
winning streak for the Warriors. Morningside will play Grace College (IN)
in the second round.
Men's Basketball Div. II national tournament bracket released
March 5, 2008
The NAIA Men's Baskeball Division II National Championship
bracket has been released and the Indiana Tech Warriors will face the
Morningside College Mustangs from Sioux City, Iowa in the first round on
Thursday, March 13th at 4:00pm (cst) in Branson, MO. Morningside was 28-3 on the season
and regular season champs of the Great Plains Athletic Conference. The
Mustangs are led by a pair of seniors Thomas Pargett (12.2 ppg. and 4.4 rpg.)
and Jack Rother (13.2 ppg. and 3.5 rpg.) and junior Seth Atkins (12.5 ppg. and
6.2 rpg.). Indiana Tech is riding a ten game winning streak. The Warriors
are scoring an average of 85 ppg. and holding teams to 68 ppg. during this
streak. Winner of this game will face the winner of Grace College (IN) and
Embry-Riddle (FL) on Friday, March 14th at 5:45pm.
Indiana Tech wins WHAC Men's Basketball Championship

The men's basketball team completed their first task of their
mission - win the conference championship. The Warriors shot an impressive
64% from the field and the Golden Eagles of Cornerstone could not rally to
overtake Tech. Trailing by 18 at half, the Golden Eagles played hard but
the Warriors continued to shoot well and when it was all over, Tech had won
98-84. First team All-WHAC, sophomore Matt Kingshott, led Cornerstone with
19 pts. and 8 rebounds. Freshman Kelvin DeVries came off the bench to score 13
pts. and collect 8 rebounds. The Warriors had five players in double
figures for scoring, led by three-point marksman, senior guard Anthony Jones (Detroit,
MI) - 23 points (5-7 3pt.) and freshman guard Anthony Johnson (Gary, IN)
with 20 pts. Junior forward Brad Webster (Barberton, OH) led Tech
in rebounds with seven. The Warriors last won the tournament championship
in 2005 and the tournament winner has an automatic bid for the NAIA National
Tournament. This year's tournament will be held in Branson, Missouri on
the campus of the College of the Ozarks. The tournament runs from March
12th - 18th.
2008 All-WHAC Men's Basketball Teams Announced

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference has announced the
selection of the 2008 All-WHAC Men's Basketball Teams as voted on by the eight
Conference coaches. Aquinas junior forward Pedja Lazic was Player of the
Year, Cornerstone forward Caleb Simons was Freshman of the Year and Dave Hammer
of Aquinas was Coach of the Year. Indiana Tech was represented by junior
forward Tim Browning (Detroit, MI) - All-WHAC Second Team, senior guard
Anthony Jones (Detroit, MI) - All-WHAC Second Team and All-WHAC Newcomer
Team and senior center Jeff Borchers (Grand Rapids, MI) - Champions of
Character Team. The following Warriors were named to the Academic All-WHAC
team: junior forward Bryant Austin (Columbus, OH), Jeff Borchers (Grand
Rapids, MI), junior forward Jordan LeuVoy (Grand Rapids, MI), and
junior guard Sadelle Moore (Eastpointe, MI). Indiana Tech will host
Davenport in the first round of the WHAC Men's Basketball Tournament on
Wednesday, February 27th at 7:30pm.
Warriors down Davenport, claim second seed for playoffs

The men's basketball team finished their regular season on a
seven game winning streak with a 84-73 win over the visiting Davenport
University Panthers on Saturday afternoon. Junior forward Bryant Austin (Columbus,
OH) had a dominant start for the Warriors, leading all scorers with 11
points and pulling down 6 rebounds in the first half. Freshman Nathan Cox
was the lone Panther in double figures for scoring (21 pts.) while the Warriors
finished with four players in double figures. Saturday's game was also "Senior
Day" and seniors Anthony Jones (Detroit, MI), Darko Bilandzic (Vukovar,
Croatia) and Jeff Borchers (Grand Rapids, MI) were honored for their
tremendous contribution to the men's basketball program. The same two
teams will meet on Wednesday, February 27th for the first round of the WHAC
playoffs. The Warriors are the second seed in the tournament and they will
host the first round game. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm at the Schaefer Center.
Warriors winning streak continues

Wednesday night's game between Indiana Tech and Cornerstone
University had a playoff atmosphere and if this game was an indication of what
the conference playoffs are about then we are headed towards an exciting
post-season. Both teams squared off and played with intensity with the
lead changing hands several times until the Warriors were able to mount a
furious effort and take the lead for good with 6:41 left in the game. The
Golden Eagles refused to give in but the 11 point lead was too much to overcome
and the Warriors won the game, 88-83. For Cornerstone, freshman Kelvin
DeVries came off the bench to score 22 points and 9 rebounds. Sophomore
Matt Klingshott had 20 points and 9 boards. The Warriors showed a balanced
attack with six players in double figures for scoring. Leading the way
with a double-double was junior forward Bryant Austin (Columbus, OH) with
15 points and 10 rebounds and junior forward Brad Webster (Barberton, OH)
had 12 points and 9 boards. The Warriors are now 9-4 in the WHAC and in
third place. Tech wraps up their regular season hosting Davenport
University on Saturday, February 23rd. This game is designated as "Senior
Day" and the tip-off is scheduled for 3:00pm.
Warriors dominate UM-Dearborn

The men's basketball team defeated UM-Dearborn Wolves 76-55 to
win their fifth consecutive game. The win solidified the Warriors in
fourth place in the WHAC. After coming out strong and building an eleven point
lead at halftime, the Warriors cruised in the second half to their eighth
conference win. Leading the Wolves was junior Anthony Acho with 17 pts.
and senior John Travis with 15 pts. and 14 rebounds. The Warriors were led
by the tandem of senior guard Anthony Jones (Detroit, MI) who had a
season high 24 pts. and junior forward Tim Browning (Detroit, MI) who had
16 pts. and a season high 13 rebounds. The Warriors will wrap-up the
regular season hosting a pair of conference games. On Wednesday, February
20th, Tech will play Cornerstone at 7:30pm in the Schaefer Center and a win over
Cornerstone may move the Warriors up to third in the conference.
Warriors win their fourth in a row

The men's basketball team started off slowly but gained
momentum and defeated the conference leading Saints of Aquinas College, 86-74.
Easily one of the best games of the year, the Warriors and Saints played an
entertaining but hard fought contest. The Saints behind the scoring of
junior Pedja Lazic (20 pts.) and sophomore John Lierman (20 pts.) scored quickly
into the game before the Warriors settled in the groove and played with more
intensity. Tech was led by junior forward Tim Browning (Detroit, MI)
who had 25 points on 10-14 (71%) from the floor and a double-double from junior
forward Bryant Austin (Columbus, OH) who had 13 pts. and 10 rebounds.
The Warriors will look to continue this current winning streak of four games
when they travel to the University of Michigan-Dearborn for a 3:00pm game. This
will be the last away game of the regular season before the Warriors finish up
with two home games next week.
Warriors blitz the Racers, 108-66
February 12, 2008
The men's basketball team got off to a great start against the
University of Northwestern Ohio Racers and easily won 108-66. The Warriors
shot 65% from the field (20/31 FG) and 67% from 3pt. range (8/12 FG) to build a
27 point halftime lead! In the second half, Tech continued its dominance
and finished with four players in double figures for scoring. The Racers
were paced by freshman Kyle Gillette (18 pts.) and sophomore Josh Vorst (13
pts.). The Warriors were led by senior guard Anthony Jones (Detroit, MI)
who had a season high 34 points and junior forward Tim Browning (Detroit, MI)
had a double-double (18 pts. and 10 rebounds). The Warriors will next play
Aquinas College at home on Wednesday, February 13th. The game will
immediately follow the women's basketball game which starts at 5:30pm.
Warriors overpower the Saints
February 11, 2008
The Warriors used home court to their advantage and defeated
the Saints of Siena Heights, 90-65. Tech used superior shooting in the
first half to build a 15 point lead by halftime and in the second half, simply
cruised to their sixth conference win of the season. The Saints were led
by junior Brian Champine (22 pts.) and sophomore Sean Nowaczyk (10 pts.).
The Warriors had four players in double figures, led by freshman guard Anthony
Johnson (Gary, IN) with 20 pts. and junior forward Brad Webster (Barberton,
OH) who had 11 rebounds (tied for personal season high) and 17 points.
The Warriors next game is Monday, February 11th and immediately follows the
conclusion of the women's game at 5:30pm.
Warriors defeat Concordia, 73-47
February 4, 2008
Indiana Tech used a strong second half to put away the
Concordia Cardinals, 73-47. The Warriors were up on the Cardinals at
halftime by one, but benefited from the Cardinals poor shooting in the second
half to outscore their hosts, 43-18. Freshman guard Marquis Turley led the
Cardinals with 20 points. For the Warriors, freshman guard Anthony Johnson
(Gary, IN) had 15 points and junior forward Tim Browning (Detroit, MI)
had 13 points and a season high 10 rebounds. The Warriors are currently in
fourth place in the WHAC and begin a four game home stand when they host
Davenport University on Wednesday, February 6th. Tip-off is scheduled for
7:30pm.
Warriors lose heartbreaker to Cornerstone in overtime
January 28, 2008
The men's basketball team lost a thriller in overtime to
Cornerstone 86-84. The Warriors and host Golden Eagles battled back and
forth the entire game until the Warriors took the lead with 3:19 remaining and
appeared to be headed to victory until freshman Kelvin DeVries hit a three
pointer in the final ten seconds to force overtime. It was the 20th time
the game had been tied. In overtime, the Golden Eagles held a slight
advantage and after the Warriors tied the game with 13 seconds left, freshman
Jonathan Hoshor hit the game winner with 2 seconds left in the game. The
Golden Eagels were led by sophomore Matt Kingshott's 28 points. The
Warriors had four players in double figures for scoring with junior forward Tim
Browning (Detroit, MI) leading the way with 14 pts. Senior center
Jeff Borchers (Grand Rapids, MI) had ten rebounds which was his second
highest for the season. The Warriors now sit in second place in the WHAC
and head to Madonna University on Wednesday, January 31st for a key conference
match-up. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm.
Warriors quick start doom UM-Dearborn
January 24, 2008
The men's basketball stormed out to an early lead and won
easily over the visiting UM-Dearborn Wolves, 108-88. The Warriors shot 66%
from the floor in the first half and forced 13 turnovers. The Wolves were
led by senior Scott Rutter (17 pts. and 5-10 3pt.) and junior Matt Ponik (15
pts. and 6 boards). The Warriors had all five starters in double figures
for scoring including junior forward Tim Browning (Detroit, MI) - 24 pts.
and 8 rebounds and senior guard Anthony Jones (Detroit, MI) - 26 pts.
(8-8 free throws). The Warriors improve to 4-2 in the WHAC and a four way
tie for first place. The men's team will next travel on Saturday, January
26th for a 3:00pm game with WHAC co-leaders Cornerstone University.
Warriors stumble against Aquinas

The men's basketball team had one of their worst starts of the
season and could never make up the deficit, dropping a 90-60 decision to the
Aquinas Saints on Saturday afternoon. Junior Pedja Lazic had a dominating
performance for the Saints with 23 pts. (10-11 FG) and 10 rebounds. Senior Jeff
Wierzbicki led the Saints in rebounds with 14. Junior forward Tim Browning
(Detroit, MI) was the lone bright spot for the Warriors with 20 pts.
The Warriors look to get back on track when they host the UM-Dearborn Wolves on
Wednesday, January 23rd. The game is the second part of a double-header
with the women's teams, the tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm.
Warriors improve to 3-1 in the WHAC

The men's basketball team defeated the Siena Heights Saints 74-71 in
conference play. The victory vaulted the Warriors into a three-way tie
with Madonna and Aquinas for the WHAC top spot. Both teams had to overcome
a slow start to the game and the Warriors held the edge in points from the bench
(21-10). The Saints were led by junior Brian Champine's 28 points (13-15 87% fg)
and 9 rebounds. For the Warriors, senior guard Anthony Jones (Detroit,
MI) had a double-double (21 pts. and 10 rebounds) and Bryant Austin (Columbus,
OH) contributed with 10 points. The Warriors will next play Aquinas on
Saturday, January 19th in a battle for first place in the WHAC. Tip-off is
3:00pm.
Davenport battles back to defeat Warriors

The men's basketball team suffered its first conference loss
of the season, dropping a 85-82 decision to the host Davenport University
Panthers. The Warriors were up at halftime, 44-38 but the Panthers clawed
their way back and after several lead changes, finally put the Warriors away in
the final minute. Freshman forward Nathan Cox led the Panthers in scoring
with 18 points and junior forward Trevor Manning had 15 pts. and 7 rebounds. The
Warriors were led by junior forward Bryant Austin (Columbus, OH) with 18
pts. and junior forward Tim Browning (Detroit, MI) had 16 pts. (70%
shooting) and 9 rebounds. The Warriors now 2-1 in the WHAC will next play
on Wednesday, January 16th when they travel to Siena Heights for a 7:30pm
tip-off.
Warriors dominate Concordia
January 10, 2008
The men's basketball team put on a shooting clinic Wednesday
night, defeating the visiting Concordia Cardinals, 113-69. Indiana Tech
was up by 28 at halftime (58-30) and led by as much as 45 during the second
half. Indiana Tech did most of their damage from the 3pt. range going 15 for 27.
Five Warriors were in double figures for scoring with sophomore forward John
Roche (Holt, MI) leading the way with a season high 21 points coming off
the bench and sophomore guard Shaun Cabrera (Warsaw, IN) had a hot hand
scoring 17 points (5 for 6 3pt). Senior center Jeff Borchers
(Grand Rapids, MI) led the team in rebounds with nine. The Cardinals
were led by freshman guard Marquis Turley's 19 points. The Warriors are
now 2-0 in the WHAC and they next travel to Davenport University on Saturday,
January 12th for a 3:00pm game.
Tech starts off conference play with a win
January 9, 2008
The men's basketball team started off their conference
schedule in style, defeating the visiting Madonna University Crusaders, 95-81.
The Warriors took advantage of the Crusaders' poor shooting and sprinted out to
a 41-27 halftime lead. Both teams played even in the second half and the
Crusaders could never overcome their deficit. The Crusaders were led by
junior guard Cedric Sims (24 pts.) and senior guard Charlie Henry (17 pts. -
5-11 3pt.). The Warriors had four players in double figures in scoring,
senior guard Anthony Jones (Detroit, MI) and freshman guard Anthony
Johnson (Gary, IN) had 18 pts. respectively. Junior forward Brad
Webster (Barberton, OH) had team high 10 rebounds and freshman guard
Jason Souder (Grabill, IN) came off the bench to lead the team with 8
assists. The Warriors will next host the Concordia University Cardinals on
Wednesday, January 9th at 7:30pm.
McKendree University holds off Warriors
December 17, 2007
Nationally ranked McKendree University Bearcats had to use
every ounce of their talent to hold off a determined Warriors squad and defeat
Indiana Tech 89-84. After a seesaw first half that had McKendree up by 14
at the half, the Warriors fought their way back to take a lead late in the
second half, only to have the Bearcats put the Warriors away at the charity
stripe in the final minute. The Bearcats were paced by junior guard Eric
Palm's 28 points (5-10 3pt.) and freshman forward Eric Hobbie's 23 points.
The Warriors were led by senior guard Anthony Jones (Detroit, MI) 29
points and junior forward Bryant Austin (Columbus, OH) who had a
double-double with 10 pts. and 10 rebounds. The men's basketball team is
off for the holiday break but return to action on Januray 5th when they host
Madonna University for a 3:00pm tip-off.
Warriors in a close finish with St. Francis
December 12, 2007
In a game that started out slowly, suddenly became another
classic showdown between Indiana Tech and cross-town rivals the University of
St. Francis Cougars. With the Warriors trailing for most of the game, Tech
finally pulled ahead late in the second half before the Cougars staged a wild
comeback and iced the game with a couple of clutch free throws from senior guard
Mike Steinau (37 pts.) for a 77-73 victory. For the Warriors, freshman
guard Anthony Johnson (Gary, IN) led the team in scoring with 18 pts,
senior guard Anthony Jones (Detroit, MI) had 17 pts. and junior forward
Brad Webster (Barberton, OH) was a force on the boards with 11 rebounds.
The men's basketball team return to action Saturday (12/15) afternoon when they
host the McKendree University Bearcats at 4:30pm. The Warriors look to
avenge an earlier season loss to the Bearcats.

Men's Basketball player, Anthony Jones (Detroit, MI)
has been chosen WHAC Player of the Week for December 2-9, 2007. Jones, a
senior guard, averaged 26 pts., 8.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in wins over
Taylor - Ft. Wayne (107-87) and Spring Arbor (82-80 2OT). Against Spring
Arbor, Jones had a season high 29 points. Jones is averaging for the
season 16 pts., shooting 64%.
Roche's basket at the buzzer beats the Cougars in double overtime
December 8, 2007
On a cold Saturday afternoon, the Schaefer Center was the
hottest place to be, as the Indiana Tech Warriors squared off with the Spring
Arbor Cougars for a double overtime thriller, 82-80. The Warriors were
command for most of the game but the Cougars battled back to send the game into
overtime. After an even first overtime, the second overtime was a picture
of frustration as both teams failed to find the basket until sophomore forward
John Roche (Holt, MI) hit the game winning basket at the buzzer to seal
it for the Warriors. For Tech, Senior guard Anthony Jones (Detroit,
MI) led all scorers with 29 pts. and junior forward Bryant Austin (Columbus,
OH) had 13 pts. and 11 rebounds. For the Cougars, junior guard Josh
Brandt had 26 pts. and sophomore forward Rob Boss had 22 pts. and 14 rebounds.
The Warriors return to action on Tuesday night (12/11) when they host the
University of St. Francis Cougars at 7:30pm.
Warriors cruise to a win over Taylor Ft. Wayne
December 6, 2007
The men's basketball team got on track and won 107-78 over the
visiting Taylor Ft. Wayne Falcons on Thursday night. The Warriors jumped
out to an early lead and never looked back. Up by 23 points at halftime,
the Warriors were in control despite the efforts of junior center A.J. Gooden
(31 pts.) and sophomore guard Montrel Hogue (25 pts.). For the Warriors,
senior guard Anthony Jones (Detroit, MI) had team high 23 points and 11
rebounds and freshman guard Anthony Johnson (Gary, IN) contributed 18
points. The Warriors will next host Spring Arbor University on Saturday
afternoon. Tip-off is 1:00pm.
Warriors fall to nationally ranked Bearcats
December 4, 2007
The men's basketball team lost to nationally ranked McKendree
University, 99-75. Trailing 48-34 at halftime, the Warriors could not make
up the deficit despite out shooting the Bearcats, 45-36. Sophomore forward
Colin Clemens (Warsaw, IN) led the Warriors in scoring with 15 points and
junior forward Tim Browning (Detroit, MI) and junior forward Brad Webster
(Barberton, OH) had 12 pts. and 11 pts respectively. The Bearcats
were paced by senior guard T.J. Stone with 21 points. The Warriors return
to action on Thursday when they host the Taylor University Fort Wayne Falcons on
Thursday, December 6th at 7:00pm.
Warriors lose to high flying Pilots
November 28, 2007
The men's basketball suffered their fifth loss of the season
when they lost Tuesday night to the Bethel College Pilots, 96-56. The
Pilots quickly set the tone of the game and jumped out to a 48-22 halftime lead.
The Warriors were never able to find their rhythm and could not make up the
deficit. The Warriors were paced by senior guard Anthony Jones (Detroit,
MI) with 16 pts. (4-6 from 3pt.). The Pilots had four players in
double figures for scoring, junior forward William Walker had 21 pts and
sophomore forward Tyler Brown added 20 pts. The Warriors return to action
Saturday night (12/1) when they travel to Lebanon, IL to play McKendree College.
Tip-off is 7:00pm.
Nationally ranked Oilers beat Indiana Tech
November 26, 2007
The men's basketball team faced a tough opponent in the
University of Findlay who are ranked fifth in the nation in NCAA Division II
basketball. The result was a 105-66 loss to the Oilers who raced out to an
early lead and never looked back. Tech was led by freshman guard Anthony
Johnson (Gary, IN) who had 13 pts and 4 rebounds for his efforts.
The Oilers had four players in double figures for scoring led by junior guard
Tyler Evans's 21 points. The Warriors hope to return to their winning ways
when they host Bethel College on Tuesday night and attempt to avenge an earlier
loss to the Pilots at the Notre Dame College tournament. Tip-off is
7:00pm.
Grace uses early lead to defeat Indiana Tech

The men's basketball team dropped a tough loss to visiting
Grace College, 83-66. The Warriors were led by freshman guard Anthony
Johnson (Gary, IN) with 17pts and senior Anthony Jones (Detroit, MI) came off
the bench to score 12 pts. Grace had built an early lead and never looked back.
The Lancers were paced by junior center Eric Gaff with 18 pts. and 14 rebounds
and senior guard Marcus Moore contributed with 15 pts. and 7 rebounds.
Men's Basketball splits in Notre Dame Tournament
November 19, 2007
The men's basketball team dropped their first game of the
Holiday Inn Tip-off Tournament at Notre Dame College (OH) to the Bethel Pilots,
80-69 but easily won their second game of the tournament, 91-58 over the
Miami University-Hamilton Harriers. Junior forward Brad Webster
(Barberton, OH) led the Warriors in scoring averaging 21 ppg. and shot 78%
from the field. Darko Bilandzic (Vukovar, Crotia) had a season high
seven rebounds against the Harriers. The Warriors will play Wednesday,
November 21st when they host Grace College at 7:30pm.
Brescia halts Warriors win streak
November 14, 2007
The men's basketball team suffered their first loss of the
season when Brescia University defeated the Warriors 71-59 on Tuesday night.
Despite only trailing by two at halftime, the Warriors were never able to get on
track. Freshman guard Anthony Johnson (Gary, IN) had the best night
shooting, scoring 11 points and junior forward Bryant Austin (Columbus, OH)
led the team in rebounds with seven. For the Bearcats of Brescia
University, junior guard Anthony McNeal had 21 points and sophomore guard Doug
Denton had 8 boards. The Warriors hope to get back on the winning side
when they travel to Notre Dame College (OH) for a two day tournament starting on
Friday.
Warriors win fourth in a row

The men's basketball team rode a great first half, shooting a
blistering 69% from the field, to a 87-76 victory over the University of
Northwest Ohio Racers on Friday night. Senior guard Anthony Jones
(Detroit, MI) scored 18 points and junior forward Tim Browning (Detroit,
MI) came off the bench to add 18 points and 8 rebounds. The Racers were
paced by sophomore guard Josh Vorst (25 points) and junior guard Jason Sarno (17
points). The Warriors return to action on Tuesday night when they travel
to Brescia University for a 7:00pm game.
Warriors roll to 86-67 victory over Huntington
November 8, 2007
The men's basketball continued their winning ways with a 86-67
victory over the Huntington University Foresters on Wednesday night. The Warriors jumped out to a
48-34 halftime lead and the team was led by senior guard Anthony Jones
(Detroit, MI) with 24 points and sophomore guard Shaun Cabrera (Warsaw,
IN) added 16 points and 4 assists. Sophomore forward Kevin Kyle led
the Foresters with 12 points and 14 rebounds. The Warriors return to
action on Friday, November 9th when they travel to the University of Northwest
Ohio for a 7:00pm tip-off.
Leo Standout to Play for the Warriors

Leo standout guard Jason Souder has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the Indiana Tech Warriors.
Souder, a three time all ACAC conference player and 2005 tourney MVP averaged 18 points for the Leo Lions this past season. Souder finished his career with 948 points.
