Lady Warriors in the Community
by Jessica Saba

Within the past month, the Indiana Tech women’s soccer team has been busy with many off season events. With the season not actually starting until late summer, Coach Weber thought it would be nice for the team to spend some off-season time together by participating in different charity events.

The first event took place on Saturday, February 24th in Indianapolis. The team drove to the big city to participate in the “Polar Bear Plunge” for the Special Olympics. Kaylee Swanson, Gina Schulz, Ashley Mejia, Emily Davis, and Becky Scanlon were the participants. These five Lady Warriors raised $420 between them to contribute to the Special Olympics. All participants were invited to “plunge” into the freezing water if they wanted to. The only three lady warriors braved the cold, Gina, Becky and Kaylee.

“We had a great time bonding with each other during the after party, which was held at a local high school.”- Kaylee Swanson.

The second event that the team headlined was the “Huntington frozen Four,” which took place on Sunday, March 4th. Seven Lady Warriors participated in the four mile run and ending taking top stops in each of their respected age groups. The lady warriors raised money for this event also, and had a blast running together as a team.
